China’s 2008 Software, IT Outsourcing Revenues Reach RMB 157Bln (USD 25Bln)

According to the 2009 China Software and Information Services Outsourcing Industry Development Report, China’s software and information services outsourcing industry had revenues of nearly RMB 156.8 Bln( USD 25Bln V.S India’s 70Bln) in 2008, up 41.2% YoY; outsourcing enterprises numbered 3,600, up 20% YoY; outsourcing professionals numbered 410,000, up 36.7% YoY.
Production of the report, research and formulation of which took over 4 months, was led by the Ministry of Industry and Information Industry (MIIT)’s Department of Software Service Industry, with contributions from the MIIT’s Center for Software and Integrated Circuit Promotion (CSIP), Institute of Electronic Science and Technology Information, China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID), and CCID Consulting.

China’s CNY exchange rate is US$1.00 = 6.83 CNY… So the 2008 ITO revenue number should be $25B and not $2.5B
