Insigma Ranked Top 10 in the Profile of China’s software industry in 2008

The revenue of China’s top 100 software producers rose 84.4 percent last year to about 203.95 billion yuan (29.86 billion U.S. dollars), according to a list released Friday by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Among the 100 companies, 32 each posted revenue above 1 billion Yuan (683 million U.S. dollars). The top three were Huawei, ZTE and Digital China. Insigma ranked No.7 with the total revenue of 455 million Yuan (66 million U.S. dollars). On another list of Top 10 self-owned software services brands in China, Insigma ranked No.2.

1. Industry’s development was fast and stable, but the final quarter shows a slight drop China’s software industry maintained rapid development during 2008, achieving business revenue of RMB757.29 billion, up 29.8% year on year, or 8.3 percentage points higher than the previous year.

However, starting from the final quarter, industrial income witnessed a slight drop. By the end of October, accumulative growth rate slid 1.8% from the first nine months.

2. Software technology service becomes crucial sector to industrial growth income from the software products topped RMB316.58 billion last year, accounting for 41.8% of the total industrial income, up 32% year on year.

Software technological services achieved revenue of RMB145.5 billion yuan, surging 39.9% from 2007, and 10.1 percentage points higher than the industry’s average growth rate.

Revenue of the embedded software sector grew by 25.2% to hit RMB111.82 billion, with the growth rate 12.8 percentage points higher than that of electronic information manufacturing.

The integrated system and superconductor (IC) design industries gained revenues of RMB161.64 billion and RMB21.74 billion, respectively, up 25.2% and 16%.

East China holds stable growth the software industry accomplished revenues of RMB638.92 billion in eastern China by the end of 2008, accounting for 84.4% of the industry’s total, up 29.5%. The growth slightly slid 0.8 percentage points from January to November.
